Back in 2020, after encouragement from my uncle to pursue art, I stumbled upon the world of Youtube artists, and changed the trajectory of my life.
Minnie Smalls
The first video I found was by an artist in the UK - Minnie Smalls. She posted a vlog sharing her process of ordering and packaging 350 zines! This was my first introducing to running your own art business and I was immediately sold. Creating a business around my favourite hobby, with endless opportunity to sell any art project or craft I create, all from the comfort of my own home: THE DREAM.

Caro Arevalo
After watching a couple videos from Minnie Smalls, I found another Youtube artist named Caro Arevalo. Caro is a Peruvian artist based in New York. She gives a very naturalista vibe in her energy and her art. By watching her videos, I learned about how she used to work as a full time bartender in New York, transitioned to part-time bartender / part-time artist, and then eventually was able to quit her regular job and become a full-time artist. She made me realize that creating a path to becoming a full-time artist was possible.

Ever since these videos, I’ve followed and admired the work of many talented artists on social media. It is so lovely to experience art through our phones whenever we want.
